How to Read Alkaloid Lab Reports (COAs) Like a Pro

A Certificate of Analysis is the most important document in this industry — and most shoppers never read one. Here’s how, in four steps.

Step 1: Match the batch code

Every authentic COA lists a batch number. Match it to the code printed on your package — if the seller can’t connect the two, the document is decorative. All current Zana batches are published on our Lab Reports page.

Step 2: Check the potency panel

The panel should list alkaloid content in mg or % and match the label claim. Large discrepancies between label and lab mean the label is marketing, not information.

Step 3: Scan the safety panels

• Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury)
• Microbial counts (yeast, mold, bacteria)
• Pesticide residue screening
• Solvent residues for extracted products

Step 4: Check the lab itself

Reputable COAs come from ISO-accredited independent labs — not the manufacturer’s own bench. ‘Pass’ results without lab letterhead are a red flag, always.
